The greatest of all time

I’m so tired.

That’s a good idea though, I think I’m gonna go eat a cookie.

hey, I hope you’re feeling well.

I’m not great. Idk if I’m not sleeping well or if I’m overstimulated or there’s something else, but I just . My head just kinda hurts. And I’m tired. It feels like all the time. I’ll see a doc in a few days, idk. I think when I’m writing isssssssss… when I’m the most relaxed or something. Otherwise I feel like my brain is all over the place. Obviously it doesn’t help that I have my earbuds in almost 24/7 constantly listening to some kind of stream or video. (I don’t have them in rn).

I don’t like that. I recognize it as a big problem, to not be able to be comfortable in silence.

More Gene Wolfe?

Silhouette

What did I read… uh…

After Grit left him alone, Johann noticed his shadow was like really really dark and not quite moving correctly. He hears someone whisper.

Later he gets his health exam. Doc gives him a clean bill, but thinks that some cuts on his arms and legs were self-inflicted.

He sees Grit when they’re changing shifts. She asks if he got his health card. He said yes. She smiles and asks when she should come over. He says he’ll let her know, which makes her look at him weird.

Why oh why would you not just say “tonight when you’re off duty”? Wtf is wrong with you Johann?

When he gets back to his room, Creepy Emil is there with his own roommate and they start yapping about how people all dreamed about Johann on the same night and now they think that he’s some kind of messianic priest that will save humanity or something. They say there’s like an entire group of them, and they give some esoteric symbolism reason based on the letters of his name to back up their belief.

Obviously this is going from 1-100, so I’ll tell you more later.

Something I looooooooove is that Johann notes that the Captain isn’t really in control of the ship; there’s other “powers”, maybe individuals or organizations, official or not, that exist in the ship that are more in control of things that she is. And she seems like such a hardass. She’s literally bred to be a leader. So what could be going on in “her” ship?

Also, the ship’s surely at least the size of a city, right?

UhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhZzzzzzzzzzzz… anyway, she plans on pitching this planet they’ve found to the government as suitable for humans to live on. So I think they need to stay here for 2 years—some people are going down to the planet, some are staying on the ship just in case, you know.

Kk that’s all so far. I’ll let you know what’s going on with Emil and the Cult of Johann.

TOP 10 GREATEST Vidya?

I asked Perplexity for its own Top-10 Games of All Time list.

It’s better than GameRant’s… but it’s still not good.

Although I do of course agree with its #1 pick

1 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 1998 Blueprint for 3D action-adventures.

2 Grand Theft Auto IV 2008 Open-world grit and physics mastery.

3 Super Mario Galaxy 2007 Gravity-defying platforming joy.

4 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 2015 Epic quests and living RPG world.

5 Bloodborne 2015 Frenzied combat and Lovecraftian horror.

6 Doom Eternal 2020 Non-stop, skill-based shooter revival.

7 Hades 2020 Roguelike perfection with godlike storytelling.

8 Resident Evil 4 2005 Survival horror action benchmark.

9 God of War (2018) 2018 Emotional saga with brutal evolution.

10 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Boy oh boy… Well, I’m happy to see RE4 and Ocarina there. Bloodborne? Really? I LIKE Bloodborne, it was the first FromSoft game I finished. But ffs, the #5 greatest game of all time? Frankly I thought Sekiro was better, and I never even finished Sekiro—but MAN was it a journey. Some of those environments were crazy.

And I still don’t think Sekiro belongs there, either.

So what does? It’s really easy to shit-talk these lists and not give my own.

Well I want to take this a LITTLE more seriously than they did. Hades and Doom Eternal, give me a break.

Lemme go look at my Steam library just for some ideas…

Hm… so much is good, but THE BEST OF ALL TIME? And I think a lot of ones that *may* belong on the list are ones that I haven’t even played personally.

You know what? Lemme just start throwing ideas out there

Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal

Dragon Quest V

if any shooters belong on the list, F.E.A.R.… and one of the Halos? People loved 2 for the multiplayer, but 3’s campaign was amazing… but 1 had that air of mystery that we never got again. Which is the most consistently-fun, though? It’s still gotta be Halo 1, not a lot of interruptions in the action.

Minecraft before it became trash probably belongs on the list somewhere.

Ah, how about Akiba’s Trip – Undead & Undressed? Okok I’m sorry.

Okay, that’s all I’m comfortable with so far.

Judging by... idk about 50% story/setting/music/VIBE, 50% gameplay on its own, I’m so far thinking Ocarina, Pokemon Gen 2, Minecraft, Dragon Quest V, Kingdom Hearts 2, Resident Evil 4, Halo 1, F.E.A.R. … I’m not just going to throw Dark Souls on here for the sake of it.

I’ll have to give it more thought.

Some of those might get booted off. F.E.A.R. is iffy, as amazing as it was and still is. And is KH2 really better than 1 anywhere besides gameplay?

And I’m only a filthy millennial, I can’t speak about most games from Sne—oh no… Chrono Trigger?

I’ll have to think about it more later.

The Wisdom of the Saints: True Poverty

“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”
