I can’t even remember what I did last night.

But I remember I played Dragon Quest IV for NES.

I have no idea why I like it so much, but I REALLY DO. It’s just like, fun. All of the different stories makes the game feel uh… short in a good way. You know, it’s never getting too stale. You’re one character, then you’re another, then you’re another, then you’re another, then you all meet up together finally and the world opens up. It’s really neato.

It’s actually kinda insane what they accomplished with this game. I can’t really compare it to the NES version of DQ3, because I BARELY played any of that, and it’s not fair to compare it to the SNES version of DQ3, which can hardly be touched by any game at all.

But it’s definitely one of my favorite Dragon Quest games. God help me, I might even like it more than 1 and 2. I DEFINITELY like it more than 6.

...7 is just impossible for me to even think about rn, it’s just way too big. I’m so glad I got to play the PS1 version before it, the Dragon Quest game about religion, was re-written by a localization company that hates religion.

Okay, lemme get back.. 4… 4 FOUR Dragon Quest IV: IT’S KINDA INSANE what they accomplished with it. The day-night cycle is sooooooo cool, man. Did the NES version of 3 have one? Idk/idc

There were, in total, probably like… a dozen punches thrown in the entire fight, because it was just Sabatini pushing Gomis against the cage, trying to pull him down, occasionally doing so, and Gomis—who is 6’0 at 145lb—immediately getting back to his feet.

unc Miller gets it done in spectacular fashion, adding to his “most wins in the company” record. It’s just always nice when the longest-active fighter in the UFC gets another W. 39 wins in his career, 28 in the UFC. God bless him.

Grant Dawson vs Mateusz Rebecki

I didn’t watch, but apparently the Pole fumbled a finish and Grant subbed him. Sad! I like Grant but he’s SO chinny that a little girl could knock his lights out. Plus, I always root for the Polish. Always.

Joel Alvarez vs Yaroslav Amosov

Broooooo. The dangerous Spaniard was easily subbed by the Ukrainian. This fight I actually was awake to see, and I HATED IT for a split second. Even though I’ll usually root for a Ukrainian, Alvarez just is sooooooo cool, man. He’s been knocking eeeeverybody out. There’s not a lot of actual Spaniards in the organization, and I’ve got a little Conquistador blood in me.

But then I saw the cross around Yaroslav’s neck, and I was at peace 😌🙏 God over race every time

guy’s got a record of 30-1. That’s INSANE. He’s new to the organization, idk what level of competition he fought prior to the UFC, but a 30-1 record is like legend-tier. Probably worth keeping an eye on him. Alvarez did give him a little trouble on the feet—but Alvarez is extremely strong, and he got ragdolled, so Yaroslav will probably do fine.

Ateba Gautier vs Ozzy Diaz

The middleweight Francis Ngannou knocked Ozzy’s lights out in r2 immediately after Ozzy said “Psh, he doesn’t hit so hard lmao”. Pretty funny. I’m getting tired let’s just move on

Bobby Green vs Jeremy Stephens

Bobby “Christ is King” Green subs a man whose nickname is literally “Lil’ Heathen” 😏

Sean Brady vs Joaquin Buckley

Perfect example of “elite grappler vs striker”. Sean just took him down and kept him down all three rounds.

Ok ok now the good stuff

a nice, boring, cautious heavyweight fight. Volkov just outstruck Acosta across 3 rounds, nothing major. A few neat moments, but nothing major. I and one judge gave Volkov all 3 rounds, Acosta could only be given r3.

After Volkov beat Ciryl Gane but was robbed, and after Waldo LOST to Serghei Spivac but was given the W, I love to see this. Other than that, I like Acosta a lot—people forget man, Waldo HUMILIATED the 6’7 black guy who was supposed to be the new Francis Ngannou. He’s actually really good. (even though he lost to Spivac)

But Volkov is just veeeerry defensively responsible. And he’s huge, I think HE’S 6’7, so he’s hard to hit. His record is now 40 wins, 11 losses, which is an absurdly good record, especially for a heavyweight. I don’t even know if any other heavyweights in the top-10 even have 40 *fights*… I just checked: ONLY Derrick Lewis, who has 29 wins, 13 losses. More losses than Volkov with 11 less wins. You understand?

Volkov being robbed against Ciryl Gane was *the robbery* of this generation, like when Jon Jones was given the decision against Dominic Reyes. You win a fight, objectively, it’s declared you lost the fight, RIP your career is now sent back a year minimum. Very sad.

Volkov deserves the next title shot. They would have given it to Waldo if he’d won.

The Jungle Asian defeats the City Asian.

Joshua Van is one of the best boxers in the organization. Taira just couldn’t cope with it, he didn’t have the stamina to keep Van down, and was just clobbered on the feet. It was nasty, man. After a dominant 1^st round of grappling for Taira, it all went downhill(foreshadowing the main event)

Taira actually *came back* a bit toward the end of the fight, after being almost KO’d and almost subbed in… r4 iirc. Like it would have been such an amazing comeback that I even started rooting for him even though I looooove Van. Plus, the first Japanese (not half-Brazilian) champion would have been great for the company. Kinda sad, but it’s really good for Van since he got the belt from Pantoja being injured. This gives him some legitimacy since Taira was beating everybody.

There’s a great Japanese-American YouTuber, AnikiMMA, who was so certain that Taira would win. I hope he’s okay rn lmao pls don’t commit harakiri.

Just like the previous fight, this is what happens when an elite wrestler runs out of energy.

Chimaev took Sean down and controlled him the entire first round. And that was the end.

Sean won round 2, 3, 5, definitely. I even gave him 4 tbh but no judge did—but that was a close round.

One judge, a stupid bitch who literally needs to be investigated I am not kidding, incorrectly gave the fight to Chimaev.

Thankfully the other two did their jobs. Sean won clearly. Once Chimaev couldn’t hold him down anymore, Sean just classically jabbed him up like he always does. This is the second champion he’s dethroned as a huge underdog.

Sean Strickland is literally one of the greatest middleweights of all time. Redditors absolutely fucking hate him, because he’s like, a white man who isn’t a complete faggot, but he’s really 1- very very obviously a good-hearted guy despite his rude language, and 2- extremely skilled.

(I really mean that btw-- you and I both know that a lot of people are so fucking mindless that if they hear impolite language from someone, regardless of the context, their tiny brains get scrambled and they will dehumanize him for the rest of his life no matter what he does.)

Sean, now the champion, has wins over at least 5 of the top 10, including #1 and #2. People forget man, Israel Adesanya was being hailed as the greatest striker in the company’s history, on his way to becoming the middleweight 🐐.
