I’ve only listened to a few minutes of both his vids because Zzzzzzzzz, but he’s uh, immediately pretty impressive. Like, a lot of it’s just exposing stuff you kinda just take for granted as true, which in hindsight is so obviously-wrong that you don’t need to be a historian, at all, to understand why it’s just nonsense.

Like John Green is a complete fucking retard. You see a clip of him in the Mansa Musa vid, and if you’re really listening to whatt he’s saying, you don’t even need to wait for Atlas to respond to him to notice that John is drawing some fucking absurd conclusions, even if you were to believe that “Mansa Musa” was indeed the richest man in history.

It’s the kinda stuff that makes you just not care anymore. Do you ever feel like that? It reminds me—John Green himself, his very existence, reminds me of the time I saw a girl on YT, a white girl, arguing that white people commit the most violent crime with her evidence being “Most true crime videos are about white people.” I probably have that screenshot saved somewhere.

I … I’m too tired. I’m really … it’s a REALLY good story and I don’t even want to spoil it for you, I’d rather you read it yourself. It’d take you like 20 minutes.

I’ll … add a spoiler thing… here.

Okay, basically it’s just a kinda-dystopian future, recently-fired guy comes to a crappy inn to stay the night just because he needs a place to stay. Meets a blind girl, they get along, yadda yadda yadda. There’s a speech being played by the ruler of the country, and in it, he thanks his beloved “eyes”, Westwind.

Later when he’s going to bed our guy reports to the ruler on his little communicator. He’s the spy called Westwind. He reports that he found a place to stay and met a girl. The ruler is happy for him and praises his positive attitude, which makes Westwind happy. He reports that he thinks the girl is very loyal to him but he doesn’t know about the other people staying there. Ruler says he’ll try to send him some help for his situation, but can’t make it too obvious.

Shortly after that, the crappy cardboard wall separating his room from the girl’s falls over and he goes to fix it and sees her talking into her own communicator, reporting in as Westwind. “I met someone 😸” He quietly goes back to bed and calls out to her reminding her they’re going to have breakfast together. She says yup.

We then see the innkeeper also reporting in to the ruler as Westwind, mentioning she saw his speech today.

So, what is this?

Uhhhhhhhh… idk, what do you think? The “Ruler” employs the entire nation, or at least many people, as his “spies” in order to make them feel special and loved?

Maybe the *are* special and loved, though.

The ruler, whether he’s an AI or an actual person, the former is more likely if multiple people are going to be constantly reporting in to him—uhhh… he can’t provide help for the “spies” that isn’t --

I’m sorry, I have to tap out. I have more I wanted to say, it’s a really cool story, I really liked it, but I’m really in a bad mood that can only be cured by a charity boxing match with John Green. Or maybe I’m just tired.

I tried out all of the delocalized Dragon Quest NES games.

Uhhhhhh… so far so cool. My one complaint is… in DQ2, it looks like it uh, gets rid of the sprite for beds, leaving a white space where beds should be. It’s actually really hideous lol. Thank God I’m not in the mood to play through DQ2.

DQ3 seems basically perfect. That’s really cool. Idk if I’ll play through the whole thing.

Oh, the same guys are planning on also doing DQ5 and 6 for SNES. That’s sooooo exciting.

I thought 5 was like, really well done. I actually think it—I mean, the currently-available fan translation—has some of the best dialogue in the entire series. I’m interested to see how it—well, idk how different it’ll even end up being, assuming that the current translation is already fairly faithful. I don’t know what censored content is in it. It’ll be a good excuse to play through the game again.

What’s MORE exciting is that they’ll do 6 in the future, too. 6 has a fan translation, but it’s pretty rough sometimes. It’s mostly playable, but not super-uncommon for some lines of dialogue to have even been missed entirely, leaving NPCs saying gibberish. A more-thorough translation would be fantastic.
