Straw

A soldier’s recounting the first time he killed someone. He and the group of mercs he joined traveled by hot air balloon, and they needed to stop at a place for straw.

What else… Zzzzzzzzz anyway he’s 17, and he’s with 4 other people, 3 guys and a woman who’s bigger than all of them. They desperately need food and straw so they land on some lord’s property. They think they might have to fight and kill(and then eat) them, but they’re welcomed warmly. There’s no straw though, so the lord says they can stay the night and in the morning they’ll have a cart go to town to collect some for them.

The meet the lord of the… what was it again… not a manor, a – forget it, you it doesn’t matter. They feast and go to bed. In the night, our guy gets up to walk around because he can’t sleep, and he sees that the stable is absolutely packed with straw.

I’m thinking “Oh man, it’s a trap!” But no lol. When he reports to his captain, Cap’s like “C’mere lil bro… look out in the distance.”

Smoke. There’s – idk if they’re bandits or monsters, but they’re coming. Cap says they’ll arrive here by nighttime. So the lord is paying them to stay and protect them. No straw, gold. “Soldiers only get straw where they’re not welcome.” They were very welcome.

It ends with our bro saying “They came that night at moonrise.” So we know he survived at least, having killed at least one. Dunno about his comrades. But they’re pretty cool, I bet they made it. There’s a good quote, about when they considered fighting a much larger group… lemme…

But she was afraid of Clow. I found out why later. She respected Miles, I think, for his judgment and courage, without being afraid of him. She did not care much for Derek either way, and of course I was hardly there at all as far as she was concerned. But she was just a little frightened by Clow.

Clow was the only one who I was not frightened by—but that is another story too.

Oh, last night I did uhhh… climb the comms tower in MGS1. Where you just get swarmed with infinite soldiers. It’s not so bad if you just keep throwing stun grenades on the way up. Thennnnnn… I rappelled down the tower, that kinda sucked. I think I’m right outside the Hind fight now. Bro this game lol It’s actually not fun like… half of the time. Like I am just not looking forward to having to fight Sniper Wolf AGAIN. I ALREADY FOUGHT HER ONCE. Why am I even doing this? Am I stalling so I don’t have to continue MGS2? I do wanna get to 3 though, it looks soooo good…

4’s finally being freed from the PS3 in August, how about that? I wasn’t ready for it when I was a kid. I mostly watched my friend playing it, it was way too complicated for me. Something about it even scared me lol. Now I’m ready.
