The Marvelous Brass Chessplaying Automaton

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED: SCAM ARTISTS COME—come to town with a chess-playing computer. But there ends up being a scrawny guy hiding in it. He falls in love with a local waitress and plans another scam, for which he needs her to be the one in the machine. She squeezes in because she’s a bit of a heckin chonker.

They take the machine outside and the guy starts playing “the machine”. She starts doing a LOT better than he thought she would, and wonders for a second if she’s pulling one over on him. Then the guy who they were going to scam tells the police there’s someone in the machine (he was his original partner) and they open it up and the poor girl’s fucking dead.

No shit, she was in a tiny box in the sun for hours. Local genius chess master doesn’t realize you can’t just shove your girlfriend in a box in 100 degree weather.

...the machine was working on its own then? 🤔

Later, narrator(jailer) mentions that they let the scammer bring the machine into the jail to play chess with. And he moves all the pieces himself, but sometimes the jailer notices if he takes too long, the machine starts to come alive.

It’s a little ambiguous whether it’s the machine itself or the scammer having telekinetic abilities, because he uh, is a little mutated from THE WAR that I didn’t tell you about because I’m tired.

THE END. It was rly good but sad.

Let’s see… MGS1? I beat the Hind. It wasn’t so bad. AND I beat Sniper Wolf. She was sooooo much easier lol. The first time you’re like stuck in that narrow corridor so she can just keep plapping you before you can even aim at her.

If you call Otacon after you beat her he just goes “…” Poor guy. Shouldn’t have fallen in love with an assassin trying to kill me.
